The University of Florida has stopped football practice for their players after an increase in positive COVID-19 cases on the team.

According to a news release from the Florida Gators on Tuesday, the football team “experienced an increase in positive COVID tests among players” and paused team activities “out of an abundance of caution.”

The news comes just days before they are scheduled to play Louisiana State University, which has now been postponed.

The Sunshine State’s football team — including players, coaches, and personnel — has had 19 positive tests over the past several days, a source told ESPN’s Andrea Adelson, who confirmed a prior report by The Independent

Arkansas, Florida and Kentucky among the fresh football wrinkles this year

Peak eerie will arrive as the Big Ten joins pandemic football this week after its notable deliberations and as Illinois visits the novel coronavirus hot-state of Wisconsin on Friday night before six more conference games Saturday and as the third quarter ends in Madison, presuming it does. That’s when the stadium speakers will keep their tradition and play “Jump Around,” whereupon the empty seats will not jump around.

“Jump Around,” House of Pain’s enduring contribution from 1992 to the global bloodstream of ever since, plays in many other stadiums, too. It shouldn’t. It always feels plagiarized anywhere other than Camp Randall Stadium in the great Madison. When Wisconsin plays it and the heaving crowd of Badgers jumps to it, it provides the single greatest spectacle in a sport chockablock with them.

On Friday night, Wisconsin will play it nobly, dutifully and emptily; while the SEC and ACC opted for scattered

Assuming everything is as back to normal as possible for both teams, the NASCAR have to turn New England into a passing team.

The Patriots – no matter who has been at quarterback – live on the ground with the most rushing attempts, the second-most rushing yards, and the third most rushing scores. Meanwhile, the passing game has been along for the ride. Denver’s secondary has had a problem, but the run defense so far has been solid.sgfhresye45

North Carolina vs. Florida State score: Seminoles hang on in second half to stun No. 5 Tar Heels

Yet another top-10 team has lost as the 2020 season moves forward. No. 5 North Carolina came into Saturday’s game against Florida State as two-touchdown favorites but exit on the wrong end of a 31-28 loss, taking the Tar Heels off the list of unbeaten teams this season.

From the start, it was clear that North Carolina would not be waltzing over the Seminoles. Quarterback Jordan Travis hit a quick 23-yard touchdown run — his first of two on the night. By the second quarter, Florida State was up 24-0 thanks in part to spectacular play from the defense. The Seminoles played particularly well in the trenches, intercepting quarterback Sam Howell and returning it for a touchdown. The Noles also had a key fourth-down stop and stymied a two-point conversion attempt. In all, this was probably the best Florida State’s defense has played this year.

Of course, nothing about a

Florida head coach Dan Mullen yells to a referee about a call during an NCAA college football game against South Carolina in Gainesville, Florida, on Saturday, October 3.

“I’m continuing to self-isolate from my family, who all remain healthy, and am following the guidelines set forth by UF Health, the CDC and our public health officials,” Mullen tweeted. “I am proud of how our players, staff, and campus community have navigated this unprecedented time and hope all continue to be safe.”

Mullen’s positive test comes after Florida was forced to postpone their game against Louisiana State University initially scheduled for Saturday and tentatively rescheduled to December 12. The Southeastern Conference also announced Friday that Florida’s October 24 game against the University of Missouri would be

College football scores, NCAA top 25 rankings, schedule, games today: No. 5 UNC battles Florida State

If the first game of the week involving a ranked team was any indication, we could be in for another wild week of college football. Coastal Carolina dropped No. 21 Louisiana 30-27 on Wednesday night to kick off the Week 7 action, which features numerous other ranked teams in action against unranked foes. So while the SEC on CBS Game of the Week pitting No. 2 Alabama against No. 3 Georgia is clearly Saturday’s headliner, plenty of other top teams should be on high alert in games they will be favored to win.

With matchups involving top-10 teams from the SEC, Big 12 and AAC postponed, the ACC takes center stage as No. 13 Miami and No. 1 Clemson both play in the day’s early wave. Coming off a thrashing at the hands of Clemson, the Hurricanes host a Pittsburgh team that is consecutive one-point losses away from being 5-0.

North Carolina vs. Florida State odds, line: 2020 college football picks, predictions from model on 23-6 run

The Florida State Seminoles have had the North Carolina Tar Heels’ number, as evidenced by their 15-3-1 record in the all-time series. The dominance was even more pronounced until North Carolina posted 37-35 victories in the last two meetings — both in Tallahassee. The fifth-ranked Tar Heels attempt to extend the streak to three games when they visit the Seminoles for an ACC showdown on Saturday night. North Carolina (3-0, 3-0 ACC) is riding a six-game winning streak dating back to last season after coming out on top in a 56-45 shootout against then-No. 19 Virginia Tech last Saturday. The Seminoles (1-3, 0-3) are coming off a 42-26 loss at Notre Dame in which they were outgained 353-153 on the ground.

Kickoff from Bobby Bowden Field at Doak Campbell Stadium is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. The Tar Heels are 13.5-point favorites in the latest North Carolina vs. Florida State

The Six Pack: Alabama vs. Georgia, Florida State vs. North Carolina among best Week 7 college football picks

I did it to myself. I got cute last week. I pretended I wasn’t bragging about going 6-0 the week before while totally bragging about going 6-0 the week before, and it bit me in the behind as I went 2-4, with my Lock of the Week being one of those four losses. I have nobody to blame but myself.

And the Syracuse defense.

And Jarrett Guarantano’s turnovers.

And K.J. Costello.

But that’s it: just me and those things. Anyway, no bragging this week, just good old fashioned hard work and process trusting as The Six Pack looks to get back to its winning ways.
