Broward College recently teamed up with Helping Abused Neglected Disadvantaged Youth (HANDY) to give out much-need essentials to residents at its “Fresh Start” distribution event on Oct. 3.
With a drive-thru system set up at HANDY’s headquarters in Fort Lauderdale, volunteers were able to hand out items to 150 Broward County families.
Essentials included in the distribution were bedding, KN95 face masks, Dutch Pot Restaurant gift cards, oximeters, fresh produce, personal hygiene products, drawstring bags, pens and lanyards.
Before the event, HANDY CEO Kirk Brown and foundation board members spoke to community partners and representatives inside the Miami Heat Learn and Play Center.
“We are so grateful to our community partners who joined together to make Fresh Start event such a success,” Brown said in a statement. “As a community, we must continue to come together and support our most vulnerable youth and families.”
