The Tua Tagovailoa era in Miami started with a win Sunday.
The new Dolphins’ starter helped the team to a 28-17 win over the Los Angeles Rams, going 12-of-22 passing for 93 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions. ESPN reported that before Tagovailoa took the field, fans attending greeted him with a standing ovation.
Though some may have tuned in to see what the rookie was made of, it was the Dolphins defense that ran the show.
Miami showed Rams quarterback Jared Goff no mercy. In the first half alone, two of Goff’s passes were intercepted and he was strip-sacked twice.
