Crew Dragon Astronaut Noguchi Joins Elite Spacecraft Club

Japanese astronaut Soichi Noguchi is currently on his way to the International Space Station (ISS) aboard the SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft with three other crew members.

SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket lifted off from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida in the early evening of Sunday, November 15, carrying NASA astronauts Michael Hopkins, Victor Glover, and Shannon Walker, along with Noguchi from Japan’s JAXA space agency.

Upon reaching space tonight, Noguchi became only the third astronaut in history to experience Earth orbit in three different kinds of spacecraft.

In Noguchi’s case, the spacecraft include a 2005 ride aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery for the STS-114 mission, a trip aboard the Russian Soyuz TMA-17 in 2009, and Sunday’s mission aboard the SpaceX Crew Dragon on the capsule’s first-ever operational flight.

Only NASA astronauts Wally Schirra and John Young have experienced Earth orbit in more than two different types of spacecraft — Schirra

University Hospitals joins trial testing multiple treatments to keep COVID-19 patients out of the hospital

CLEVELAND, Ohio — University Hospitals is participating in a trial evaluating antibodies created in a lab as a possible treatment for early-stage COVID-19.

UH is one of 25 sites taking part in ACTIV-2, a program that includes both Phase 2 and Phase 3 randomized and blinded trials of a variety of substances compared to placebo, the hospital system said in a statement Thursday.

The study’s goal is to find a treatment that keeps COVID-19 patients out of the hospital, UH said.

The ACTIV-2 program is evaluating an experimental monoclonal antibody treatment known as LY-CoV555, developed by Eli Lilly and Company, UH said. Monoclonal antibodies are antibodies produced in a lab. The antibodies in the ACTIV-2 trial attack the coronavirus and prevent it from getting into cells, UH said. LY-CoV555 is administered as an infusion — a continuous slow introduction of a solution — into a vein in the arm.

College football rankings: Penn State joins The Bottom 25 with tough game vs. Ohio State up next

25. Middle Tennessee 2-5 Are the Blue Raiders getting hot? They’ve won two of three after taking down Rice in overtime thanks to a quadruple doink . Sure, both of MTSU’s wins have come against teams you’ll find in these rankings, but a win is a win. And thanks to that influx of new teams with small sample sizes, the latest one was almost enough to escape The Bottom 25 entirely. (7) 24. Florida State 2-4 Well, so much for any momentum a decent performance against Notre Dame and a win over North Carolina might have brought. The Seminoles were worked over by Louisville 48-16 on Saturday. This week they get a Pitt team that was just smothered by Notre Dame. (18) 23. Duke 1-5 The Blue Devils had the week off but will return to action this weekend, hoping to pick up win No. 2 against Charlotte. (12) 22.

Syntropy Joins MITRE’s Mission to Unlock the Power of Real-World Data for Cancer Research and Treatment

Partnership on mCODE is aimed at removing barriers to standardized data, improving patient outcomes

Syntropy, a technology company specializing in healthcare data integration and collaboration solutions, today announced it is joining forces with MITRE to provide data integration support for the mCODE™ (minimal Common Oncology Data Elements) data standard. The partnership seeks to improve the overall quality and consistency of cancer data available to clinicians, patients, researchers, and other stakeholders in the fight against cancer.

Today, more than 18 million people are living with cancer globally, with thousands of additional cases diagnosed every day. While there is a vast array of data available to support oncology research and clinical care, the majority of it is contained in electronic health records (EHRs), which are not always uniform in the way they collect, analyze and store data. The lack of standardized workflows, ontologies, and integrations has significantly hindered data’s true impact and
