U.S. education official gives kudos to Avon Local Schools

AVON, Ohio — The Avon Local Schools’ accomplishments have been noted as far away as Washington, D.C., clearly impressing the assistant secretary for elementary and secondary education.

Frank Brogan has served in the position since 2017 after serving as chancellor of Pennsylvania’s public universities.

On Friday (Oct. 23), Brogan hosted a virtual meeting with the Avon Schools, giving various members of the faculty and administration the opportunity to showcase what the schools have done by way of planning and preparation during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition, Brogan heard that Avon Middle School has been recognized as a U.S. Department of Education National Blue Ribbon School.

During the meeting, Brogan said, “We would like to show people how to reopen their school — to help them with what you’ve done, to share what you’ve done.”
