Boston College 34 Louisville 27: Grading the Eagles

Boston College defeated Louisville on Saturday in a game with loads of twists and turns. We have already given our notes on the offense and defense, but let’s grade out the various position groups.

Because of COVID-19 this evaluation was done using the network TV feed. There certainly were moments the video missed. We did the best we could to evaluate what was visible. Also for grading: A: Great Game, B:Good Game, C: Average Game D: Below Average F: Poor Game)

Quarterbacks: A. I don’t know how you give this group anything less than this. Phil Jurkovec pretty much made only one mistake during his time out there (missing Spencer Witter for a touchdown). The transfer finished 15-19 for 203 yards in three quarters. Then Dennis Grosel comes off the

Game Recap

The best player on the turf between the Louisville Cardinals and the Boston College Eagles on Saturday ended up on the losing team. Although he couldn’t prevent a 34-27 defeat to BC, QB Macale Cunningham passed for two TDs and 294 yards on 31 attempts in addition to picking up 133 yards on the ground.

In addition to Cunningham, U of L got help from WR Dez Fitzpatrick, who caught eight passes for one TD and 182 yards. Near the top of the highlight reel was Cunningham’s 69-yard TD bomb to Fitzpatrick in the fourth quarter.

The Eagles’ success was spearheaded by the efforts of QB Dennis Grosel, who passed for two TDs and 44 yards on seven attempts in addition to picking up 49 yards on the ground, and RB David Bailey, who punched in two rushing touchdowns.

The Cardinals’ loss pushed them down to 3-7. The

Boston College 34 Louisville 27

Boston College snuck by Louisville on Saturday 34-27 in a game marked with turnovers and big performances. Let’s break down what we saw from the defense during this game.

* We knew that turnovers were going to be the key to this game, and boy were they. Louisville was one of the sloppiest teams coming into this game with the ball, and they lived up to their reputation. Two of the fumbles were just poor ball handling, but the interception at the end of the game by Shitta Sillah was due to good pressure by the defense.

* Malik Cunningham was a MAJOR problem for BC last night. He accounted for 412 total yard of offense and looked like Lamar Jackson out there. I think he really exposed the lack of speed that we knew might impact BC. Scot Satterfield ran a lot of speed option that BC really couldn’t

Louisville Drops Road Finale at Boston College

(Photo of Mike Palmer, Dez Fitzpatrick: Jamie Rhodes/USA TODAY Sports)

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Hitting the road for the final time during the 2020 regular season, old habits continue to die hard for Louisville, as the Cardinals fell to Boston College 34-27 despite a large amount of production from a pair of offensive playmakers.

Quarterback Malik Cunningham finished with a career high in total offensive, accumulating 294 through the air on 19-31 passing and 133 on the ground on 17 attempts, for 427 total, as well as a pair of touchdowns.

His favorite target on the night was unquestionably Dez Fitzpatrick, as the wide receiver hauled in a career-high 182 yards on eight receptions. Jalen Mitchell, who was the newly-christened running back following the news of Maurice Burkley having to miss the remainder of the season, finished with 44 yards on 44 rushes.

But unfortunately, as has been the case

BOSTON — Backup quarterback Dennis Grosel threw for two touchdowns after starter Phil Jurkovec was hurt, and David Bailey ran for two scores before he left with an injury on Saturday as Boston College beat Louisville 34-27.

Louisville, Boston College make it to field at last (maybe)

BOSTON (AP) — Even making it to Thanksgiving without a single positive COVID-19 test didn’t spare Boston College from the schedule shuffling that has hit college football this season.

The Eagles’ game against Louisville has filled four different slots on the schedule. If the teams make it to kickoff on Saturday, that will be an accomplishment in itself.

“You can’t get mad. You can’t scratch your head. You’ve just got to get ready and feel lucky that we’re playing football,” BC coach Jeff Hafley said. “Anybody right now who is saying, ‘I can’t believe this is happening.’ Let’s just be fortunate we’re playing ball, we get another chance to play. Hopefully we’ll get these next two games in.”

Originally scheduled for October before the pandemic delayed the start of the season, the game was moved to the Friday after Thanksgiving when the Atlantic Coast Conference reissued the schedule, then to

Boston College vs. Louisville: Prediction and Final Thoughts

Boston College football is back from their bye week, as they wrap up their home schedule with a game against Louisville (3-6). Here are some of our final thoughts heading into the game.

When Boston College Throws The Ball: Edge Boston College. If you were to just go by statistical rankings this would go towards Louisville. However, this week on the Locked on Boston College podcast, Eric Hoffses brought up an interesting point. The Cardinals have only faced one of out of the Top 5 passing teams in the ACC, and let up 320 yards through the air. They have been fortunate to face almost exclusively teams in the bottom in terms of passing yards. Jurkovec, hopefully with a healthy shoulder, will most likely find success against the Cardinals.

When Boston College Runs The Ball: Edge Louisville. The Cardinals have struggled to stop the run this year, but on

What to Know

The Boston College Eagles have had a week off and are no doubt ready to get back on the field. The Eagles and the Louisville Cardinals will face off in an ACC battle at 4 p.m. ET on Saturday at Alumni Stadium. BC is expected to win — but not by much — so they will need to come into the contest prepared for a fight.

BC came up short against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish two weeks ago, falling 45-31. The losing side was boosted by QB Phil Jurkovec, who passed for two TDs and 272 yards on 40 attempts in addition to picking up 34 yards on the ground.

Meanwhile, U of L got themselves on the board against the Syracuse Orange last Friday, but ‘Cuse never followed suit. U of L
