College football scores, NCAA top 25 rankings, Week 12: Georgia, Cincinnati, Oregon avoid upsets

No. 13 Georgia returned to the field Saturday after a week off for its first game since a crushing loss to Florida two weeks ago, a defeat which all but ended Georgia’s hopes of an SEC Championship Game or College Football Playoff appearance. But the Bulldogs found something for their fans to get excited about on Saturday in a 31-24 win over Mississippi State.

Though it took a fourth-down stop in the final two minutes for Georgia to secure the win, Kirby Smart’s team appeared to finally find a quarterback as USC transfer JT Daniels completed 28 of 38 passes for 401 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions in his SEC debut. Georgia needed every bit of the redshirt sophomore’s production as it generated just 8 rushing yards against a shorthanded Mississippi State team.

Daniels will be draft-eligible after this season, but if he stays in college another season after

College football scores, NCAA top 25 rankings, schedule, games today: Georgia, Auburn battle SEC foes

The stakes are ratcheting up this week in college football as teams jockey for positioning in the first batch of College Football Playoff rankings that will be released Tuesday. The headliner is No. 3 Ohio State’s game with No. 9 Indiana, but several other teams with playoff aspirations will be in action as well.

While No. 4 Clemson’s game at Florida State was postponed hours before kickoff, No. 1 Alabama, No. 6 Florida, No. 7 Cincinnati, No. 8 BYU, No. 10 Wisconsin and No. 11 Oregon will all be in action before the evening wave of games even arrives. It would likely take a significant upset at the top for someone other than the current top-four in the polls — Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Clemson — to crack the debut top four in the CFP rankings.

But it’s been a crazy year, and with a ton of ranked

NCAA to hold entire college basketball tournament in one location to limit Covid-19 risks

The NCAA announced Monday it plans to hold the entire 2021 men’s college basketball tournament in one geographic location to mitigate the risks of COVID-19 and is in talks with Indianapolis to be the host city.

The Final Four is already set to be held in Indianapolis next April and the NCAA has its headquarters in the Indiana capital.

Early-round games had been scheduled at 13 predetermined sites across the country. Moving those to one location would allow a safe and controlled environment with venues, practice facilities, lodging and medical resources all within proximity of one another.

No decision on how to handle the women’s NCAA Tournament has been decided yet.

“The committee and staff have thoughtfully monitored the pandemic to develop potential contingency plans,” NCAA President Mark Emmert said. “The Board of Governors and my top priorities are to protect the health and well-being of college athletes while also

College football scores, NCAA top 25 rankings, Week 11: Indiana sets up Ohio State showdown, Oregon rallies

When the Big Ten finally began its season last month, the most-anticipated game on the league’s schedule was an Oct. 31 showdown between No. 3 Ohio State and Penn State. It was supposed to be a game between top-10 division rivals who both harbored league title and College Football Playoff aspirations. It turns out we’re going to get a game fitting that bill — it’s just coming a bit later than expected with an opponent for the Buckeyes that few would have predicted.

When No. 10 Indiana dismantled Michigan State 24-0 on Saturday, the Hoosiers set up a game of massive proportions at No. 3 Ohio State next week. Penn State is reeling — the Nittany Lions fell to 0-4 on Saturday — but Indiana has picked up the slack to play the role of challenger to the Buckeyes in the Big Ten East. Indiana last beat Ohio State in

The homestretch of the 2020 college football season is upon us. That seems a bit strange considering the No. 3 team in the country, Ohio State, has played just three games. But amid the chaos of the most unprecedented season of the past few decades—and maybe ever—three constants remain: Ohio State, Clemson, and Alabama.

The Crimson Tide and Tigers have appeared in five of the six College Football Playoffs since it debuted, and the Buckeyes have been in three. However, they have all been together in just one, following the 2016-17 season.

Barring any upsets, and if Clemson can win its likely rematch against Notre Dame in the ACC Championship Game, we will see the three best teams in college football over the past decade duking it out when the calendar turns to 2021.

But where does everyone else stand?

College football scores, NCAA top 25 rankings, schedule, games today: Florida vs. Arkansas, Oregon in action

A wave of postponements and cancellations related to COVID-19 issues raided the Week 11 college football schedule. But there are still 12 games on the Saturday docket involving ranked teams, and the stakes will be particularly high in the Big Ten. After cracking the top 10 for the first time since 1969 this week, Indiana will be in action during the early wave of games as the Hoosiers look to prove their merit as a contender in the Big Ten. But they will be facing a Michigan State team that showed a propensity for upsets two weeks ago when it beat then-No. 13 Michigan.

In addition to Indiana in action early on Saturday, another top 10-ranked team, No. 9 Miami, will take center stage as the Canes battle Virginia Tech in the noon ET slot. Also, playing under the lights Saturday will be No. 6 Florida, No. 11 Oregon and
