College student fired from Sherwin-Williams after his paint-mixing TikTok videos go viral

A college student who had been working part-time at a Sherwin-Williams store in Ohio was fired in July when the company discovered he was posting paint-mixing videos on TikTok, according to a report.

Currently his channel, @tonesterpaints, has more than 1.4 million followers.

Tony Piloseno had been using his account to show his company what it could do on social media by marketing its brand to a younger audience, he told Buzzfeed News.

Piloseno would mix different colors of paint to create new colors. He would also experiment with blueberries, a quarter coin, and even beer.

According to termination papers Piloseno provided to BuzzFeed News, the official cause of his termination was “gross misconduct,” that included “wasting properties [and] facilities” due to making the videos during work hours and using company equipment, and “seriously embarrassing the company or its products.”

A company spokesperson later admitted he was fired due to

Liberty University has removed a video featuring a conversation with John Piper from the school’s online library and social media feeds after the Christian pastor and author revealed he did not plan to vote for Donald Trump or Joe Biden in the 2020 election.

In October, Piper and Southern Baptist Convention President J.D. Greear recorded a video conversation with David Nasser, Liberty’s senior vice president for spiritual development.

The two resulting videos, later posted on Liberty’s website, came on the 20th anniversary of Piper’s popular “Don’t Waste Your Life” sermon.

TikTok tests a Learn tab to showcase education and how-to videos

How-to videos have been some of the most popular content on YouTube over the years, and now, to grow engagement and the pool of users that it appeals to, the upstart video app TikTok is getting in on the action, too.

After launching a dedicated “Learn On TikTok” hashtag (#LearnOnTikTok) earlier this summer with a slate of premium creators producing videos for it, multiple users and social media watchers (thanks Matt) are reporting sightings of a new menu item called “Learn.”

Featured prominently alongside “For You” and “Following” at the top of the homescreen, TikTok describes Learn as a place to discover how-to and informative videos posted by users that take viewers through making food, producing art, how scientific processes work, and more.

The Learn feed seems to have disappeared overnight: from what we understand it’s still being tested.

(RNS) — Liberty University removed videos of evangelical author and speaker John Piper from its website after the well-known pastor wrote a blog post that was seen as critical of President Donald Trump.

The conversation was timed to coincide with the 20th anniversary of Piper’s best-known book, “Don’t Waste Your Life.” Greear has a new book out on a similar topic, called “What Are You Going to Do With Your Life?”

On Oct. 22, Piper posted an article that was critical of fellow evangelicals for overlooking sins like boastfulness, vulgarity and sexual immorality while focusing

There’s learning and then there’s “learning.” According to a report in the Huffington Post on Tuesday, students in a 10th-grade history class at Maumee High School in Ohio were offered extra credit to do a little of the latter by watching videos produced by Prager University (PragerU). That is not, in fact, a university, but a right-wing nonprofit and YouTube channel founded by talk show host Dennis Prager.

PragerU videos are often stocked with historical revisionism, xenophobic and anti-Muslim propaganda, rants decrying feminism, climate change denial, and rhetoric asserting the “left” is a pathology centered around literally destroying the U.S. It also promotes creationism and flirts with far-right rhetoric like decrying the demographic “suicide” of Europe. (Prager himself has bemoaned that it “is idiotic that you cannot say the N-word.”) PragerU videos are
