Where is ‘College GameDay’ this week? Location, schedule, guest picker for Week 10 on ESPN

“College GameDay” will be in South Bend, Ind., for its second top-five matchup of the season: No. 1 Clemson at No. 4 Notre Dame.

That said, this week’s game between the Tigers and Fighting Irish is peculiar on several counts: Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, it will be an ACC contest, meaning these two teams could meet again in the conference championship game. More important is the fact Trevor Lawrence won’t play for Clemson: Instead, backup D.J. Uiagalelei will make his second career start against the Irish.

The five-star freshman looked the part while leading Clemson to a 34-28 comeback victory over Boston College: He completed 30 of 41 passes for 341 yards and two scores, adding 25 rushing yards and another score. That said, Notre Dame’s defense is among the best in the nation, ranking eighth nationally in total defense (267.2 yards per game) and fourth in scoring defense (10.3 points per game).

Can he add another impressive victory to his resume, or will the Fighting Irish secure arguably the biggest upset of the season? We can’t wait to find out. Until then, here’s everything you need to know about “College GameDay” as it visits South Bend, Ind.:

Where is ‘College GameDay’ location for Week 10?

  • Location: South Bend, Ind.
  • Matchup: No. 1 Clemson at No. 4 Notre Dame

This week’s “GameDay” matchup will be Clemson’s third appearance on the show in 2020, and Notre Dame’s first.

Overall, it will be Notre Dame and Clemson’s 31st and 26th all-time appearance on the show, respectively: The Irish are 13-17 when one of the two featured teams, while the Tigers are 17-8. The Irish are 5-4 when the host team, while Clemson is 5-3 as the road team.

The teams have only met once as the featured matchup on “GameDay,” in 2015: The 12th-ranked Tigers beat No. 6 Notre Dame in a rainy 24-22 slugfest, punctuated by a failed 2-point conversion by the Irish with just seven seconds remaining in the game. Clemson ended up going 14-1 that season after losing the College Football Playoff national title game to Alabama; Notre Dame finished 10-3 and lost to Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl.

‘College GameDay’ schedule on ESPN

  • TV channel: ESPN
  • Start time: 9 a.m. ET

The “College GameDay” crew of Davis, Herbstreit and David Pollack will preview Week 9’s college football action live from South Bend, Ind. Corso, whose health is at greater risk should he contract COVID-19, has to this point set up a remote office in his home. It’s uncertain whether Desmond Howard, who on Oct. 29 announced he tested positive for COVID-19, will join the broadcast live on site or from his home.

The game will be broadcast on NBC, with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. ET.

“GameDay” has already announced where it will host its Week 11 show: from the greens of the Augusta National Golf Club, ahead of this year’s (extremely delayed) Masters Tournament. That said, the highlighted game of the week is still up for grabs. This week is normally reserved for the Alabama-LSU matchup, but the Tigers’ subpar start (2-3, 2-3 SEC) has taken the shine off its matchup vs. the second-ranked Tide. The only other ranked game is between No. 10 Wisconsin and No. 23 Michigan, but that could be in jeopardy if the Badgers can’t overcome a COVID-19 outbreak among the team.
